What is Probation For? - Part 2
We have been working with the Prison Radio Association on a podcast series, based on research activity generated within the project. Paula Harriott and Phil Maguire, the hosts of the Secret Lives of Prison podcast, attended LJMU to speak to participants at one of workshops in Liverpool in June, and recorded the first episode of the series on the day, speaking with project team members Caroline and Lol about their experiences of the probation service. You can listen to it here: The Future of Probation – Part 1
In the second episode in the series, recorded a couple of weeks after the session in Liverpool, you can hear from a range of the workshop participants that Phil interviewed on the day. Using exercises and activities co-designed by the peer researchers involved in the Rehabilitating Probation project - who were keen that we go back to explore fundamental questions about what probation should be for - the workshop brought together a group of people with diverse experiences of probation from those who have worked in the service and those who have been supervised by probation. The podcast episode The Future of Probation - Part 2 features the voices of a number of the workshop participant's reflections on the experience of engaging in the research and hears them talk about what they feel is in important when trying to make sense of What is Probation for? In the second half of the podcast, back in the studio, Nicola and Matthew from the project take part in an interview that reflects on the generated learning from the day and about wider emerging themes from the project about challenges facing the delivery of rehabilitation services in the future.
